Kerri Hummingbird Sami is a Soul Guide, host of Soul Nectar Show, and author of “Love Is Fierce: Healing the Mother Wound” and “The Second Wave: Transcending the Human Drama”, both international bestsellers. Kerri has walked the beauty way to honor and love herself and her relations, and continues the walk as a daily practice to live in witness to the beauty of this Mother Earth experience.
Often we cling to our mothers to give us a sense of well-being, hanging on every word as if our worth depended upon it. We also often judge our mothers for being unable to give us what we truly deeply need: our own love. Thus our relationships become tangled up with expectations and unfulfilled needs that prevent a true connection to the woman who chose to birth us into being. This meditation stems from my deep work in “Love Is Fierce: Healing the Mother Wound” to forgive my mother for not meeting my needs, and to accept help from the only mother who could: the inner mother. As a result of this work, I now have an authentic connection with my mom that is bringing me joy.
This work is especially potent for mothers to also forgive themselves for being unable to fill that deepest need within our children. We must heal our own insecurities and set them free.
May all external mothers be liberated from the impossible, and may each soul connect with its human in sacred union. That way, maybe we can enjoy each other.
