Hello Robert, it has been my experience that spirits make it known that they want to work with you or have worked with you indicating a past (often still existing) relationship. Without that existing partnership, you will need to court them which may open the door for/to an initiation. I’m not one who knowingly walks towards an initiation opportunity. They tend to be experiences that can bring you to your knees regardless of their amazing outcomes. If you have a trusted elder(s) in your tradition it may be helpful to reach out to them and inquiry.

Hello Loren, I can share my own experiences and hopefully you are still getting notifications on this post.

I have a budding relationship with a group of spirits who call themselves the Kontomblé. This is the name they are known by in some West African countries. My first experience with them was a “tapping” as you describe in your first post. However, the tapping for me became more like pokes and pulls as I tried to sleep. It was intrusive at times. Night time is a more active time for them so meeting them in darkness is best.

You mentioned John Lockley in an earlier post. He is correct in that he was taught of how plant spirits also appear as “little people”. I have a relationship with some nature spirits who only appear as as younger female-presenting spirits. However, their stature has been very different for me than the Kontomblé. I am on my knees on the floor when the Kontomblé appear so that I look up to them. Plant spirits have not appeared to me in the same stature but this is only my experience.

Your mention of the spirits which may be native to Japan is very helpful for me. One group of “little people” spirits I assumed were the Kontomblé are tied to a Korean spirit name that I have. When they introduced themselves to me in a dream, half of their name was Korean and the other half was Japanese. More for me to inquiry about from them so thank you for that info.

I do not yet work with these spirits for others. It has mainly been for my own development as a practitioner and being able to “see the unseen” for my work to come. I can recommend a practitioner with whom I have met and know many have worked with, if that is helpful: Liv Wheeler of Earth’s Amulet. She carries a respect for and deep relationship with the Kontomblé. Maybe she can help you in understanding them.
