Leslie Conton [Ph.D, Certified Shamanic Counselor®] is a cultural/transpersonal anthropologist, a shamanic teacher and practitioner, living in Bellingham, WA. She is Professor Emeritus of Cultural Anthropology and Somatics at Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies, Western Washington University. Working to document, preserve, and maintain shamanic cultures and ways of knowing, she has studied with shamans and other healers worldwide, including Papua New Guinea, Northern China and Inner Mongolia, Nepal, West Coast Native American tribes, and more recently with Tibetan shamans–in-exile in Nepal and N. India. She has made shamanic pilgrimages to Kalingchowk, Muktinath and many sacred sites in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal, as well as to Dharamsala and Sikkim, N. India; Central Tibet; Egypt; Northern China and sacred sites in N. America. She has undertaken solo pilgrimages in Australia, Ireland, England, Greece, and in the Western and Southwestern U.S.
