I am so in agreement with you. I am witnessing every time I go to Germany to visit my family the cultural influences, they still carry with them in their minds and are so unaware of. I have been very fortunate to be able to distance myself and make my life in the States. My recent trip to meet my relatives in Germany, revealed to me how their minds rotate around their status and others’ symbols of status in society. It made me understand how incapable they are to relate to each other in an empathetic way while hiding behind their wall of status perception their minds have been indoctrinated with all their lives. I wish I could tell them how they cheat themselves of precious life experiences and relationships. It won’t be a matter of telling them, it will be revealed to them sooner or later, I am sure.
