THE CELTIC FESTIVAL OF LUGHNASADH (LUNASA)
Join SSP Board Member and shamanic practitioner Jaime Meyer as he presents the SSP Lughnasadh (Lunasa) Ceremony for 2025.
Lughnasadh (LOO-nuh-suh) is one of the four major holidays on the Celtic wheel of the year. It bears the name of the Irish deity, Lugh (LOO) and it celebrates the first harvest. The land rested in winter (the North) the seeds were planted in spring (the East) they become what they are to become in summer (the South) and now that bounty, the collaboration between the Spirit of Life, of Mother Earth, and our own labor are now coming into harvest. Lughnasadh is the opening of the west on the wheel, and is filled with beautifully complex ideas. In this ceremony, I’ll tell you an awesome, powerful, famous story of Lugh, and we will together call in gratitude for our own skills and bounty, as well as call in Lugh’s power to help us navigate our own complex life situation.
HOW TO PREPARE
If you want to, you can bring a candle or a small fire to the ceremony to work with. You don’t need to, as I will also provide this. We will begin with drumming (which is, of course always a bit funky on Zoom), so if you’d like to drum or rattle at the beginning, please feel free. Mostly, bring your yearning heart, your complicated heart, and your desire to commune with, learn from, and be charged by the “Mighty Ones.”
Create sacred ceremonial space in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed by other people or loud noises. If you want, make a small altar, light a candle and have your drum, and rattle available, as well as paper and pen. Darken your room if possible and allow yourself to be fully present.
Thank you so much for this ceremony! Couldn´t watch it live because of the time difference but enjoyed it very much. Gracias!
