SSP’S AUTUMN EQUINOX CEREMONY

Join husband and wife Dr Karen Ward and John Cantwell, Ireland’s foremost teachers and ceremonialists in their native Irish Celtic lineage, as they share the opportunity to experience a traditional Cónocht An Fhómhair or Autumn Equinox ritual.

The biannual balance of light and dark is Nature’s way of finding calibration before onward seasonal changes. The principle of balance underpins all forms of health and wellbeing, so we do especially well for ourselves and our relationship with the world when we pause to synchronise with the Equinoxes. For Autumn/Fall, we reach into the harvest store grown now since the Celtic Festival of Lughnasadh (Lunasa) in early August.

The apple is highly regarded in the Celtic tradition as a fruit that opens the ways to the Otherworld. In this ritual with Karen and John, you are invited to bring an apple, a knife and small items of Nature’s bounty that you will insert into the apple’s flesh with guided intentional prayers. Consider too, items that are light and dark in colour that will embody the balance of Equinox energies. Your ceremonial apple will then be placed in Nature to vibrate into the remainder of the season while bringing potent rebound into your holistic health.

This Ceremony will be a recording as Karen and John are currently with the SSP Conference participants for our annual Conference in Ireland this year.  It will be sent out on the day of the equinox, September 22nd.

HOW TO PREPARE

Create sacred ceremonial space in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed by other people or loud noises. Make a small altar, light a candle and have your drum, and rattle available, as well as paper and pen. Darken your room if possible and allow yourself to be fully present. Bring an apple, a knife and small items of Nature for the ceremony.
