Sing for Your Life! Singing Ceremonies
They say those who sing pray twice. And that the only thing better than singing is more singing (Ella Fitzgerald). And the most true thing; those who wish to sing will always find a song.
As we embark on the incredible global healing journey that begins/continues with the US Presidential inauguration on January 20th, let us gather in song.
When I sing with other people, I’m never afraid, as Nadia Bolz-Weber once reminded me. So let us gather to sing, to cleanse our spirits, fill our hearts with courage, and prepare ourselves for the good work of 2025.
Our ceremony will consist of:
-
Building an community altar
-
Learning three prayer songs and singing together
-
Open prayer and offerings to the altar
-
Open sing for others to offer and teach their songs
-
Closing and blessing
As they say at House for All Sinners and Saints, this circle is ‘pro-participation, anti-excellence.’ The only requirement is that you want to sing, love to sing, or both.
Cost: $20. No one turned away for lack of funds.
Dates: January 20th, February 3rd, February 17th
To Bring: Items and offerings for the altar (chocolate, flowers, corn meal), songs you want to share, drums, rattles, other instruments
Babies and children WELCOME!!! There are mats and pillows for sitting on the floor or you can bring a camp chair.
