SSP’s Annual VIRtual Conference
SHAMANIC CREATIVITY:
TAPPING INTO SOURCE
September 27-29, 2024
AN INTERNATIONAL 3-Day Conference exploring:
Shamanic Creativity
Join the Society for Shamanic Practice in a Virtual Conference Gathering to explore and celebrate shamanic creativity. Together we will share how the principles and practices of Shamanism worldwide can be applied to creating a better world for the benefit of all beings and our Mother Earth. This year’s presenters, from Australia, the UK, Europe, and North America, will share wisdom, processes, tools and techniques in their experiences with shamanic creativity.
Whether it be the shamanic journey itself or the enactment of the guidance received from the journey, when compared with a template for the creative process, it becomes evident that shamanic realities and practices are innately creative. In addition, anyone who works in the shamanic realm can readily see how the creative process is intimately woven into the fabric of shamanism and shamanic practices.
The Conference consists of nine virtual sessions by presenters of diverse backgrounds in the field of shamanism and creativity. The entire event will be streamed via Zoom, and recordings will be available for playback. The event will also offer Shamanism Without Borders (SWB) Breakout Sessions and Tendings. Each breakout group will be led by one of our SWB Community Leaders.
We look forward to sitting in virtual circle with you at this important time to come together and harness our spiritual skills to co-create a better world.
What to Expect
A ceremonial container to guide the entire experience
Inspiring and informative guest presentations
Group journey circles around creativity

LENA STEVENS
Connecting Creativity to the Spirit World
The spirit world or the astral plane is intrinsically creative. It is the source of inspiration, insight, and ideas, and fuels our creative expression. Many indigenous cultures use this connection to understand and give form to their experience of the physical world. Channeling creative beauty through song, art, music and more, they bring their connection to spirit into the physical plane. In this presentation, Lena Stevens will explore this creative expression from her own experiences and training with the Shibibo in Peru and the Wixarica (Huichols) in Mexico. Live video clips of the indigenous will be included in the presentation.
Lena Stevens is an internationally known teacher and shamanic practitioner. She is on the Board of Directors of SSP. She apprenticed for 10 years with a Wixarika (Huichol) Maracame from Mexico and has studied cross-cultural shamanic healing from numerous traditions including South American, Native American, Northern European and Siberian. Lena has taught and worked with individuals, groups, businesses and communities since the 1980s, helping to bring shamanic nature-based wisdom back into people’s lives. One of her specialities is working with energy, which includes the singing of Icaros or healing songs.
Lena comes to us from Santa Fe, NM and her travels in Peru and Mexico. She is the author of the Power Path “Monthly Forecast,” and co-creator of the Power Path “Monthly Supporting Audio.” Lena is the co-author of the “Secrets of Shamanism, How to Tap the Spirit Power Within” and a contributing author to “The Power Path: The Shaman’s Way to Success in Business and Life.” She is the co-founder and one of the primary instructors of Power Path Seminars and the School of Shamanism.

PHILIP Carr-gomm
Shaman, Singer, Sage: How Druids Work with Shamanism
Within the stream of spiritual teaching of the Druids, there are three strands: of the Bard, which is dedicated to enhancing our creative life so that we can sing the song of our soul; of the Druid, dedicated to deepening our wisdom, to developing our inner sage; and the Ovate, who is the shaman, healer, and seer. In this presentation, Philip Carr-Gomm explains the work of the Ovates, guiding us on a captivating inner journey inspired by Druid wisdom and Ovate teachings. In this presentation you will:
- Undertake an experience using the heightened senses of the Ovate
- Discover how Ovates work with sacred plants
- Learn how Ovates work with oracles and divination
Philip Carr-Gomm comes to us from the South Downs in Sussex, England. He is a Psychologist, Author & a Leader of The Order of Bards, Ovates & Druids. He combines inspiration from the worlds of psychology and spirituality to help us access our own wellsprings of happiness, creativity, and meaning. Rooted in the nature spirituality of Druidry, and having been Chief of the Order of Bards Ovates & Druids for over 30 years, Philip also draws on his training in psychology, psychosynthesis psychotherapy, and sophrology. He is founder of the Sophrology Institute.
Philip helps participants in his talks and workshops transform their lives through the imaginative use of conversation, plant and animal oracles, music and poetry, meditation, and ritual. He has authored or co-authored 20 books, including The Druid Animal Oracle and The Druidcraft Tarot. He has worked in the field of psychedelic therapy with the Synthesis Institute and the ACER Integration Program. Websites are druidry.org and philipcarr-gomm.com

MARGARITA AMARU
DANCE OF THE FOUR DIRECTIONS
This interactive and movement-based workshop will explore the spiritual significance of the four cardinal directions, which are central to many shamanic traditions. This session will guide participants through movements that embody directions and their sacred archetypes, facilitating a physical and spiritual journey that aligns with the forces of nature. This workshop allows participants to connect with the Directions through intuitive movements, guided by the energy of each direction rather than fixed choreography. No prior dance experience is required. This session is designed to be inclusive and accessible, requiring only the willingness to move and explore one’s own body as a conduit for spiritual and creative expression.
BILLIE DEAN
When the Shaman is a Faery Bard: Shamanic Storytelling for Social Change.
Have you ever been yelled at by a cranky leprechaun for not writing fast enough? In this talk, Billie Dean takes you on a storytelling journey, sharing her experiences with all manner of beings from dragons to dryads, who all keep pushing her to write… and write faster!
As an innate interspecies telepath, Billie tells stories for social change, directly from animals, nature and the unseen, and will also share how she uses shamanic storytelling in healing and assisting dying animals.
Woven through this journey into the other realms, Billie describes her shamanic creative process, telling stories about the stories themselves: how they stalk, how they are gifted, and how to stop them from running away to someone else! With a mission of deep peace for all species as her contribution to the Prophecy of Peace., Billie will discuss why she sees an urgent need for all of us to to counter Hollywood’s plethora of dystopian, and apocalyptic films by using shamanic stories sourced from a higher future.
“If creatives are the antennae of society, then shamanic creatives can shine a bright light through the darkest trail to a future of beauty and peace for all species,” she says.
Billie Dean comes to us from Australia. She is a globally respected animal shaman, who runs Australia’s largest farm animal and wild horse sanctuary through her social change charity Deep Peace Trust. She teaches shamanism through her school of Wyld Shamanism, and has had a long career in film, television and print media as a journalist, writer, film director and award-winning actress. As well as screenplays, Billie has been guided to create short films and series on YouTube to uplift and inspire. Two of these have won awards and been used as activism. Bringing warmth, integrity and gratitude into all of their work is a vital aspect of their vocation. After years of holistic therapy and teaching experiences coupled with shamanic initiations, they both began to hear the palpable call to invite others to awaken to their Celtic soul destiny. Dr. Steven Farmer
SHAMANISM AND THE MUSE
A muse is a person or guiding spirit that is a source of encouragement and inspiration. To further develop your creative and artistic talents it’s helpful to discover someone in ordinary reality as well as a spirit guide in non-ordinary reality that can assist you with your creative endeavors. Dr. Farmer will lead you in a guided shamanic journey with a dual intention: finding someone in your life, whether known to you presently or not, who can support you in this, as well as a spirit guide that will serve that purpose. No matter what particular creative expression you are being called to bring forth, the muses you work with will be totally supportive of that mission.
Dr. Steven Farmer comes to us from Oregon. He is a licensed psychotherapist, shamanic practitioner, hypnotherapist, and trauma recovery specialist with certification in EMDR and Somatic Experiencing. SHAMANISM WITHOUT BORDERS
Shamanism Without Borders (SWB) is a global response network of shamanic practitioners who tend to traumatic events around the world. We do this through shamanic journey to energetically tend to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, war, pollution, and anything that causes disruption and suffering to humanity, to the animal and plant life, and to the earth’s delicate bio-system. From a place of neutrality, we will seek to learn what each of us can do about the event or disruption.
Join the SWB Community Leaders in a tending where we will all journey together to tend energetically to a particular timely event or imbalance.
Stay tuned! Additional presentations and breakout group facilitators will be announced soon!
