SSP Board Member, Dr. Karen Ward and John Cantwell of Sli An Chroi in Ireland will present a Summer Solstice Ceremony honoring the South on the Medicine Wheel.
Join Karen and John for the celebration of Grianstad, Solstice in our first language, Irish Gaelic, literally meaning ‘Sun-stop’. This is the peak of the Sun’s highest climb into maximum light when the hours and minutes of daylight will remain almost exactly the same. Summer Solstice is a tremendously significant moment, personally, collectively and cosmically. Imbas is an ancient Irish word referring to divine illumination and we still use this word for the profound healing ritual of bringing light where there was once trom or heaviness/density in the energy field of a human. Join us to hear about significant episodes which began at Summer Solstice, in our native mythology and receive Imbas – a naturally occurring light bath in our cosmos. A powerful yet gentle way to usher in the height of Summer in glorious community.
Originally aired live for SSP Members on Friday, June 20th
HOW TO PREPARE
Create sacred ceremonial space in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed by other people or loud noises. You may want to make a small altar, light a candle and/or have your drum or rattle available, as well as paper and pen if you like. Make sure your place is comfortable and allow yourself to be fully present.
