I’d like to invite you to my upcoming

 Temazcal Ceremony

On Saturday, June 6th at 11am

Location in Santa Fe will be provided upon RSVP

Last fall and winter, I began leading sweat lodges. Many of you attended and know how powerful those ceremonies were.

As spring arrived, wind and dryness made the outdoor fire required for the ceremonies too dangerous…but something new has emerged.

My friend Eliza has built a beautiful Temazcal with a wood stove inside, allowing us to gather more consistently and safely, so this ceremony will be taking place in this new container.

Ceremony Details

  • Duration: about 3 hours

  • Includes a casual meal afterward, likely a pot of soup

  • Please RSVP — only 10 spots available.

  • Suggested donation: $50-$100 or whatever feels like the right energy exchange for you. Cash or Venmo – @Aaron_Harrington

Why This Ceremony

Since my dad passed away last summer, his spirit has been very present for me, encouraging me to continue the ceremonies we used to hold before Parkinson’s limited him.

I helped him build and lead many sweat lodges throughout my life, and it feels meaningful to carry that forward. In recent years, we’ve also participated in Temazcal ceremonies in Mexico, which is the Mexican version of the sweat lodge, so this one blends what I’ve learned there with what my dad taught me

What to Bring

  • Bathing suit or other sweat clothes like loose fitting cotton

  • Towel or robe for after

  • Old Towel to Sit on and Small WashCloth

  • Water bottle

  • Warm clothes for afterward

What to Expect

The Temazcal/sweat lodge is a deeply transformational ceremony — much like plant medicine work — but here, the combination of the four elements are the medicine: fire, rocks, water, and air.

Here’s the flow:

  • Arrive early if you want to change beforehand and be ready to enter at 11am.

  • After a brief smudging, we enter and sit inside

  • There will be prayers, visualizations, songs, and the pouring of water on the rocks creating steam.

  • Each round lasts about 30 minutes, followed by a short break

  • There are four rounds, each dedicated to one of the elements and one aspect of ourselves:

    • Air – Mind

    • Water – Emotions

    • Earth – Body

    • Fire – Spirit

    • There can be a fifth casual round with ambient light and more mild heat for young kids to come in and experience it and for anyone else to chat and integrate.

  • It can get intense, but there are ways to ease the heat — like getting low to the ground and breathing through cedar boughs or a damp washcloth.

  • Also, there’s always the option to sit out after a round or two if you feel you’ve had enough

After the Ceremony

There is the potential to feel a bit “detoxy”. This is simply your body catching up with the spiritual upgrade. Drink plenty of water, eat fresh, rest, and take something like ibuprofen if needed.

I’m really looking forward to sharing this experience with you.

Please RSVP and I’ll confirm your spot.

Big blessings,

 Aaron Harrington
