Shamanism Without Borders

Community Leadership Program Registration

Shamanism Without Borders (SWB) began as a guidebook, written by the Society of Shamanic Practice (SSP), detailing a cross-cultural method for tending to trauma and disasters around the world. Since then the book has become a supportive tool for a global network of shamanic practitioners and community leaders who carry out this work.

The vision for our SWB Community Leadership Program is to help connect a community of leaders who offer SWB events on a regular and ongoing basis within their communities. In this way, we see our leaders inspiring one another, continuing to develop and build their capacity to serve, and helping to spread the practice of Shamanism Without Borders around the world.

Step 1 – Agreement

As a participant in the SWB Community Leadership Program, we ask that you review and sign the following agreement.

  • As a Community Leader I agree to be an active program participant for a minimum of 12-months. During this time I will:
    • Attend or listen to recordings of the monthly community calls.
    • Lead SWB events that are either a) solely focused on the practice of SWB, or b) shamanic events in which I incorporate the practice of SWB as a portion of the event.
    • Maintain an active membership with the SSP.
    • Encourage my event participants to support SWB by becoming a member of the Society for Shamanic Practice.
    • Help to document stories of this important work by either (a) writing one article or (b) participating in an audio interview during or at the completion of my term.
  • In exchange, I understand that SSP will:
    • Provide me with a combination of leadership resources including a monthly group leadership call and periodic SWB practice groups to hone my craft as a practitioner of this work.
  • Once I have demonstrated my understanding of the event guidelines through leading a practice group or other event in which one of our group administrators is present, I will become approved to represent SSP as a Community Leader. From this point forward SSP will:
    • Provide me the opportunity to publicize my events on the SSP website.
    • Share my monthly SWB events with their email list and Facebook group.
    • Provide opportunities to facilitate the practice of SWB at our annual conferences and monthly Call-to-Action call-in events.
